Lisa Frank and my Childhood Dreams

Finally time to write!

It was five in the morning and for some reason I was thinking about wearing my large LisaFrank head phones out while I went for a jog. The jog never happened thanks too 10 degree weather, but I did wear my headphones this morning listening to my music while I tended to my children.

As I wore those brightly colored headphones, I watched my daughter bring out my old LisaFrank beanies I let her have and thought of the three big ones I let her sleep with. She sleeps with a large Casey and and tad smaller Violet and Velvet puppies. How much love across two generations have those beanies have received?
These are her favorite out our collection. Surprising Dotty is her favorite as she was mine. :)

I just love the fact I can still have one my childhood favorites still fill my home. I remember as an 8 year old little girl carrying her LisaFrank Binder and secretly keeping my beanies in my back pack. I was homeschooled, but every Thursday we had co-op, where a bunch of homeschool kids got together to do extra curricular activities. AT that time I suddenly had this great desire to be an artist. At 8 years old I wanted to learn to paint. Not just a little cheap art set or paint by number, I wanted the real deal. I wanted the smell oil paint, the brush to the canvas, type painting. Right before I turned 9, my mom had found a class specifically for kids and off I went on my journey to become an artist.

Just like LisaFrank's bright colors, I was the one always reaching my brush for the cerulean blue. I would mix bright pinks and use yellow right out the tube onto the canvas. At the end of class I came home with paint covering my arms and on my face, but I would hold my masterpiece with pride. As I grew older I learned to appreciate more natural colors. I settled my bright colors down a little, but even in all natural color painting, one bright color would always come shining through.

Who knew my 8 year old self would one day achieve her dream. I became an artist. With a little crazy and lot of love my best friend and I opened our little art gallery and gift shop called Created.
My little Created Art Gallery and Gift Shop in the local historical town. The green building used be a little cabin.
My home is filled with my art as well as LisaFrank. Lot of influence and inspiration as child came from my love of Lisa Frank. It helped mold me into the person I am today. I love the fact I am free to paint what I love and share it with some many people around me. I am so blessed to have little girl who loves bright colors and stuffed animals like I did as child and still do now. I love the fact I have been able to share my childhood toys.
This was random painting I did one day that hangs in my room.

This was a painting I did when I was in college. It now hangs in my daughter's room right above some lovely scribbles which I still need to wash off. :P

As years come I hope to keep filling my home with even more artwork as well as the homes of others who enjoy my art work. I hope others can find joy from their childhood as I have and be able to share it with their children.

I am running out of time. My son is taking a pencil to the wall *sigh*

Until another day

Blessings

The "Loud" Mom

I have always been the person in my family to rise before anyone else. I was the one singing, "Good morning! Good morning! Its great to stay up late!" to my friends in college and to jump on my brother to wake him up.

My days were spent filled with adventures and ideas. My passion overflowed in my emotions. I was the loud person. Not like I shout everything I say, but I am the person singing in the store. I am the one dancing in the car. I am also the one who can be loudest when I argue and when I feel heart break. And when my children came into my life my loud nature only become thundering.

Suddenly I was this large force with a loud voice. My children need me. They need my encouragement, my training, my guidance.

And its not just that they need, I need it as well. Me being a loud person, also means I am an emotional person. I feel my children's pain. I cry with them. I cry for them. I am happy with them and at times I am happy for them, even when they do something amazing, but they don't realize that yet.

It doesn't just go to my children, but to the people around me. When my husband calls from work, I talk fast and happy keeping his spirits high so he can handle the stressful shift of 5pm-1:30am in the morning. When my friends cry, I want hug them. When they are angry I want to fix their problems. I am loud because my filled with such a emotions I can't hold it all in. When I have an idea I want to share it If I have a new discovery I want people to know.

I am loud not to put on a  show. I am not here to prove a point. I am loud because I want people to share in the joys I have. I want people to feel free to sing in the store. I want mothers to know it okay to ridiculous with your children in front of everyone.

As cheesy as this sounds. Dance in the rain. Sing out loud and laugh so hard you can barely breathe. People may look. People may say something. They may even say, "You are loud."

Smile and be proud. You are the voice of encouragement and praise to your children. You are the force the protects from the bad. You the person laughing hard and putting smiles on the faces that matter most.

Be loud.

Brief Update!

New Year resolutions...I have actually kept a few this year! I have done more art! Pictures are mostly posted on  https://www.facebook.com/createdphotostudio. I update as often as possible.

My reading list is being tackled, ever so so slowly. This not a ton of time between reading in the short showers my children permit and waiting to pick up my daughter form preschool.  Yet with what little time I have I think am half way through a  book this month so far. Maybe at the end of the year I will have 2-4 books finished. *hears husband laugh at my high ambitions*

Anyways, my goal to post weekly on my blog really sucks, because of how little time I have, but I would love try more. Maybe shorter posts with more pictures. Tidbits moments of my life...though I think that is what Facebook is for. Anyways, more to come later.

Our Power is out!

My husband had just left for his work, when suddenly the lights went out. I already had a bowl and the eggs out getting ready to make cupcakes. Then I heard it. "Oh no! The tablet it broken!" Theo joined his sister's desperate cry as the T. V. was suddenly shut off. My quiet evening routine was disrupted by the dying light of day and no power to my house. There went dinner, cupcakes, and my kids being quiet.
I scrambled for my phone and with a huge sigh of relief found it was fulled charged. Checked the tablet's power, then texted my mother-in-law telling her my power was out. Being 30 degrees outside, I wasn't sure how long our heat would last. After a call to the electric company, they said it take 3 hours. 3 HOURS!? I felt hopeless. How could I keep my 2 year old son and 3 year old daughter entertained in a dimly lit living room without them wanting to touch the candles?
I was frantic for ideas, when my daughter came up to him wanting to be held. I paused.
Then for about 15 minutes I held her while my son wondering from room to room giggly about the lights being out and nothing working. After a little while she fell asleep, while then my son starting pulling out his blocks to play with in the living room. It was quiet and peaceful. My frantic self was suddenly calmed. I pulled out my yoga mat and did 30 minutes of yoga off youtube from my phone. In candle light with my children safely napping and playing, it was the best hour I had in a long time. No TV, but my phone instructing me into yoga positions and the soft glow of candle light. It was amazing.

I am not sure what I learned. But I learned my kids are wonderful. Not that they don't have their moments, but I saw them behave and have fun with new experience of being without power. I realized how little time I give myself to do something for myself like yoga. And how wonderful it felt to have very little tech working.  I feel like I should do this more often.

Anyways, I have to scoot off.

until I have more free time

Updates and Slow dates.

I wish I wrote more of late. It been very difficult the last few months since so much happened this year. I wish I could share it all. However, there are to many long stories, too many details, and just mentally tiring to try and rethink about it all. My parent divorce, my children getting older, many of my friends moving and/or having babies.
My sister is not engaged. My brother moved out of state after joining the Military. My husband has a new job. Lots of huge steps taken so fast I was unable to keep up.
But I have a new goal. As the holidays approach and the ever so wonderful New Year's, the holiday of purposely making breakable self promises, I have decied to blog at least twice a month for the Organic Poptart and whenver for my new one.

Also In am a business owner! I own small art gallery and gift shop!  More to post later!

I have another more artists blog running aside this one called, perspectivesfromnata.blogspot.com. Go ahead and check it out. :)

Positively.

Things get crazy as school lets out and the weather get warmer. It drives me nut to see how crazy times flies and how crowded stores can really be once everyone is out & about for the summer season. Today I just feel like ranting about nothing really.
I was in the store shopping for some groceries I forgot to get on my last grocery trip and I ran into a group of giggly high schoolers. I checked the time, it was only 11:23 in the morning. They should still be in school, I thought, but realized school must of just let out. It really didn't bother me until I saw them messing with things on shelves and laughing at the fact they were going to make some employee's job a little harder. Its little things like that erk me, when people find entertainment in making other people's lives harder.
Just the other day, I was with my mom on our way to set for a party when we got stuck in traffic. Mom had to get over in the next lane. It takes two seconds to let one person over. But I sat and watched 8 drivers go by refusing to let her in the other lane. Only on the 9th driver, did she let our car squeeze in. This kind of things happens to everyone who drives. Hey we have probably been the one of those people refusing to let someone in the next lane. I just think why not? Why is our 2 seconds so much more important to be front than the other?
Why is it we are easily negative to everyone we don't know? This world is filled so much with depressed and frustrated people why do we have to spread it to other people? Maybe life can be a little easier if we found entertainment in saying "thanks" to our cashier, rather than mess up his products. How about we wave someone on and let go of those 2 precious seconds and breathe a little.
Enjoy life and be positive.

God bless
