The Many Uses of Ivory

Every now and then i do these quick blog posts about something i like or something I do. I think my most recent was about Quaker soft oatmeal cookies. Today is about soap. Not just any soap mind you! its about the brand Ivory soap!
I got a bar from the influenster vox box I got one month. I tried it out.

one of the many uses which i have used with my momi is to make homemade laundry soap!  The Recipe is below. we have modified it some, but it still the basic same idea.

Also on a random whim one day. After I used my bar to wash my hands with for a couple day, I got this great idea. You see my new apartment had that wonderful fresh smell of paint...And the prego lady here, couldn't take it, so went Frebreeze happy. Which in turn, Hubby man came home and banned me from the Frebreeze sprayers. *sigh* so I dug into my boxes and brought out my candle warmer! Thrower a mason jar on top and scrapped a few shaving of Ivory soap and then a a few sprigs of dried lavender I had and presto! I have the lovely clean scent filling my home.

The Bar went back to the bathroom sink and makes nice clean hands. adn I even went out a bought 3 pack package for when I run out.

And I also the wrapper is even quite nifty to use when you cant find some bit of scrap paper to jot down that important bit of information when you are the phone!
There are many other uses, but these were the ones I used it for. :) until another day. :)

Homemade Laundry Detergent Recipe

  • 1 bar of Fels Naptha soap or Ivory soap, shaved
  • 4 cups of hot water to melt the soap
  • 3 gallons of hot water
  • 1 cup of borax
  • 2 cups of washing soda
  • 1 large Rubbermaid container about 4-5 gallons size
Here’s what you do:
Grate the soap into a saucepan. You can use either a box grater or a food processor for this. I recommend you do not use whatever tool you use for grating soap with food. I was able to buy an extra food processor very inexpensively at a thrift store.
Add 4 cups of hot water to the pan.  Simmer on low until the soap melts completely into the water.
Add borax, washing soda and baking soda to the hot water. Simmer on low until it desolves with the soap. If the mixture is not melting, add more water if needed.
Add 3 gallons of hot water to the large container. Add the mixture to the hot water. Mix with a large spoon until it
completely dissolves.
Let cool overnight.( or not because I would have not patience and mountain of laundry to do. :) You will notice that it turns into a thick gel. Use 1 cup of this homemade laundry detergent per load of laundry

This post and some testing purposes are for Influenster and Ivory as a participant in the Mom VoxBox campaign :) But i wasn't paid. I just got  a free bar of soap to test out. :)

Convenience!!!! Such conenience!

So...Another Day...another hot humid day....So hot I am hiding in doors with my sweet tea laying on my daughter's bedroom floor which is blessedly tile flooring, keeping cool. While our daughter crawls in and out of her tunnel, Hubby man proceeds to tell me about the awesomeness of a new xbox slim and how much more convenient it will be. We can listen to music, play movies, play all his games, exercise to it, go online! Which we would then need Internet too go online, which with this awesome bundle deal Charter will give us, we get cable too! That way it saves time handling the new x box by just switching it to the tv and watching whatever show we want. (even though the x box can get it too witch Internet.)(not to meantion that his old one broke a few weeks back.)
As he went on, my pregnant mind drifted off after 10 minutes. my thoughts came to the word Convenience. Such a sweet word. It just works so well and makes life so much easier!
But as I go deeper into thought, to have all this wonderful convenience, you have to work hard for it, because it ain't cheap! And even worse, you have too sacrifice some convenient things you already have to have newer more convenient things!
As my mind went deeper into thought and the sweet tea took its toll or maybe the baby weaving crayons into my hair, I  thought about all our little electronics we have. The GPS was the new thing for a long time. Saved you time for looking up at the map and finding directions. That nifty little screen showed where you needed to go and even offered options for shopping and food joints to stop by along the way to your destination. Now smart phones have built in gps' which saves you time from having to handle a gps.
Heck smart phones even save you the time from having to put on your watch, check your email on a computer, and even light up a lighter at a concert!
I think after my daughter pulled a handful of my hair out and then drooled over my clean shirt did I return to reality.
I gave hubby man my usual escaping answer when I didn't have an answer, "Lets talk about this later, Bunny." and off I went to throw a meal into my wonderful time saving crockpot...such a convenience....yeah and then the rest of my day I used my fancy paper cutter to make cards, (at least i made my own.) My automatic soap dispenser to wash my hands...and the read a book off my ipad....yeah....so
Later on that week we walked out of best buy with a new xbox slim, and Charter is coming to install internet sometime in the coming weeks. We settled for nixing the extra cable bundle and most off the new games he wanted. Wait until they go for cheaper price.
So now I return back to spot this time with ice cold water and allow my daughter to proceed to drop balls on my partially rounded belly, so she can laugh her head off as they roll away.

And my sweet pea taking a nap one day!

Quaker cookie for the munchies

This is just a quick post. Today while I was out I bought a box of Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal cookies. I decide to buy after I received a sample one from the mom box box I got om Influenster. If you want to know about Influenster, there is a link below. I just wanted to share this cookie is pretty tasty. I decided to buy a full box since my hubby didn't get to try one, but also because I would like to enjoy a full cookie. You see when I got my full sample cookie in the mail. I got to take one moist and tasty bite. Sd to say, I set the cookie down because my attention was called elsewhere only to return and find my daughter came around a dutifully finished it off for me. With crumbs in her tiny hands and across her little face, proudly giving her review. She loved it so much she had it gone in 30 seconds!
Anyways until another day. And more updates from the Zaricor family! Toodles!

My PERFECT Family

His eyes were alluring, drawing me into their depths of crystal blue. His lips moist as they spoke the sweet words that sped up the beat of my heart. I could have swooned as he said, " And I clipped my toe nails for you!"...
My husband,oh so sexy, stop my heart, I should swoon into his arms. *sigh* His toe nail clippings, draped delicately across my floor replicates rose pedal trails And with the added line, with that soothing, captivating voice, "I did it for you! So I wouldn't scratch you while we slept!" It really made the made moment.
Ladies, stand back, he's all mine! You gals keep your rose pedal trails, chocolates, and fine wine! I get a well pedicured man!. (I can see you all green with jealousy!)
And just to add to the perfect husband I have, I have a child that too considerate of my needs. As a hard working mother, I spent my days picking up and putting something away, picking up and putting down again. Cleaning on to turn around and pick up more things! My daughter, from the kindness of her heart and hard working little hands, helped out. She picked up the dvds off the shelf and put them down in neat pile in the middle of my floor! She stood proud presenting all her hard work as I wept tears of joy! I raised my daughter right!

Oh yes, all you mothers out there. Bask in how well I trained my 1 year old! You all wish you had this type of perfect family. No worries ladies, I am thinking about writing a book on how to nail a man like mine and child rearing book.So maybe one day you might have a taste of what I have.

LOL!
Just another casual day in the Zaricor household
Until another day

Toodles!
