Family Life Updates

Nothing much to start out the new month other than a few birthdays and a friend heading out to college.  We are just enjoying the sweet summer weather and lounging around. However, at the end of the month we will have more excitement as I and Baby Boy prepare to head up to Canada. :) I will be sure to post pictures. :)

One thing we did that was pretty cool was Baby Girl and I spent an entire day color in our pj's while Baby Boy watched. Here is our finished masterpiece. I think it is always a great idea for parents to just sit and color with their children. Coloring is the beginning of writing. Obviously, my two year old didn't draw the lily, but she did do the background and handed me the crayons in the order of colors she wanted. :)

And Baby Boy picked up the new hobby of couponing with me. I think he has a real talent for it:)

The Potty Chronicles: CLeaing Ritual-Not What You would think!

Day: 2 jillion and forty Infinity!

Positive Reinforcement...

Patient Consistency...

Rewards for good habits...

All those potty training methods after months and months of trial and error...epic failure!

Now my two year old toddler stalks around the house butt naked taunting me! She get a real kick out it I believe. You can see it her eyes.

She refuses the diaper...refuse the pull-ups. The panties? Well the may have puppies and ponies on them, but she prefers to wear them as a vest rather than as booty covers.

Here is the real kicker! After she leaves a lovely puddle on the floor she is so kind enough to get a towel or blanket from the couch to use and clean it up. And! And she put the dirty towel or blanket in the laundry basket in the bathroom!!!

When she did this the first time I saw this my jaw dropped. Then after she continued to this little ritual, I swear it to taunt to me that I have yet to successfully get her to do her business in the potty...

I don't know how much longer I can last. I might need to call in the professionals...My mother!

4th of July PARTY!!!

Happy Independence Day Everyone! I just thought I would share some of things we are doing for the 4th of July.
We are having BBQ at our place this year and invited close friends and family over to eat and set off fireworks. Luckily we live in an area where we are allowed to set off fireworks. :)
I didn't deck my house like crazy. I save the kind of decorating for birthday parties. However, I like to do a few things in our nation's colors of red, white, and blue. :) Most of the stuff I did was with ribbons. Ribbons are great because you can use them just about anywhere

I already them as my regular ice trays, but they sell these anywhere during the 4th of July season. They are a cute added detail for cold drinks.
Back to ribbons you can tie them around anywhere. Here I tied a blue ribbon around a red basket that I am using for napkins. :)
I always like giving favors at parties. Even small simple ones like today. It is a gift that say, "Thanks for coming and celebrating with us." These are simple cardboard toilet paper tubes wrapped in tissue paper and then filled with old fashioned caramels. And you guessed it, I used ribbons to tie at the ends and white ribbon to decorate the centers.
I know as unhealthy as soda is, I could not help but drink a extra one to have a few of these red metal cola bottles. I got these from my friend's wedding last Saturday. With a simple blue button, I threaded a thin white ribbon through the button holes and tied a bow around the bottle. and Viola' a simple decorative piece to put on a table.
Add some white daises and you have pretty centerpiece for you table :)
Now I can't really do much to my deck, but I put up a strand of outdoor lights to add some light for when it get dark outside and we got to set off fireworks.(Yes those are staples holding the wire down, do not worry! It was not through the electric wire, it was just to keep it down for the time being.)
This is probably one of my favorite things to do with ribbon. I already had the blue pillows, but as red ribbon, cut the ends, and you have festive pillows :)
Throw a few lawn chairs outside, light up the fire pit and grill, and enjoy the evening!
We'll be enjoying some good BBQ, and Hubby-man's special treat homemade funnel cakes!

Until another day, Happy Independence Day!

6 Reasons I am a Stay-at-home Mother

"Why am I a stay-at-home mom?" Is the sort of question you ask yourself spending a few long days at home with your children doing the same routine of failing at potty training, random nap times, not-timed nursing, and still no dinner prepared for when hubby comes home. Let us not mention the mountain of laundry hiding in the corner of your bedroom. You know what I mean those day were you feel like a failure?

There are many days I feel like this and I want to sometimes pack up my stuff and head off into the world out yonder...but then I got back to this random list I keep in the back of my head. The list of reason why I am a stay-at-home mother.

1.) The money I save in child care.
We are one income based family and that works very well for us as of right now.  Two incomes technically should bring in more money but when you think about it when it comes to childcare, sometimes one spouse's income gets devoted entirely to childcare and the other for the rest of life necessities. At this point the only jobs I see myself having are ones where my check would be devoted to childcare, so I would rather save the money and spend the time I do have with my kids. :) Plus the money I save is around $450-600 a month.

2.) The time spent with my children as a teacher.
Yes, potting training days are long! Yes, I still can't get laundry done, and yes the sink is once again piling with dishes. But those days are some of the best days looking back. Why? Because on one of those days I taught my daughter to draw and say her shapes. On another day it was me who was teaching my son to roll over. It was me who was teaching my kids their first lesson in life. I loved seeing how excited they look when the accomplish something.

3.) The time spent enjoying my kids.
Pretty much the same reason as above, but only this time I enjoy hours laughing with kids. The tickle times, the laughing times, the learning to speak toddler. I love watching my son and daughter smile. No, they can not hold a nice conversation about culture, current news, or art. But my daughter sure can tell me all the details about Snow White in fluent toddler speech! :)

4.) Not the smallest waistline, but nothing to be ashamed of
This one is very personal to me, because I know myself. If I had no reason to stay home I would be out and about and when I am out and about I love the drive-thru! An early morning chai tea latte from Starbucks! Bread Co. for lunch and some surprise for dinner around 9, because that is when Hubby-Man gets off most nights. No specific times and no counting calories or knowing how many breads I have just consumed! My waist may not be tiny, but knowing myself it would be much larger if I didn't stay home and make my own meals.

5.) Gardening!
Again, since I am home, I get to enjoy home grown organic Roma tomatoes almost every year. And pretty flower all over my deck. I am no expert in gardening but it a nice hobby to have, while the kids play outside. I tend to them for a little while and enjoy the outside.

6.) ART!
Before I was a mother, I was an artist. I would paint for long hours into the night, or sit in public drawing random people. I could spend my days crafting away instead of talking with people. Now with kids I can't do it as often, but I would never be able to do so if I worked full time and had kids. But with just kid I can do my art, but I can also do my art with my children beside me. Sure I have paint all over my floor and by some miracle crayons have no made it on walls, but it is still get to enjoy some afternoons with my paint. Beside my daughter is a natural with her bro as a canvas!

Red, White, & Stars

The last few months have been busy! With my friend getting married I am surprised I have been able to keep track of anything. However looking at my calender I found Independence Day is just around the corner! Since I never had an official celebration at my own place so Hubby and I decide to celebrate the 4th of July at our place this year.

So I am putting together some recipes and crafts to go with the party. So as I craft and cook I thought I would share my ideas on my blog and maybe in my vlog on YouTube.

I am always one for favors at a party. They are not just for wedding and children's parties, they can given anywhere. Its a  little token or thank you gift saying you appreciate that they came and enjoyed themselves, and the go home with a smile :)

So I thought little organza bags with old fashioned candy in them would be cute. I don't have the candy in them yet, since candy doesn't last long at my place, so I will get that closer to the 4th of July. To be a little more patriotic, I have sewn little stars on the bags.

I got the organza bags from Dollar tree. It was package of 6 for a buck.

The stars I cut out without a pattern. I found the stars looked more old-fashioned and adorable with the not so neat cut.

And I simple sewed a circle in the center of the stars to the bag. I thought about using blue or red thread, which you can do if you like, but I found the gold went with the old fashioned theme. :)

I am probably going to fill them with red, white , and blue taffy with maybe some caramels for people to take home.

Well more ideas and posts to come.

Spending my days

Now I am no parental expert. My kids are 2 years and 6 months. But from the little time I have been parent, I have learned a lot.

One is women do a whole lot more and a whole lot less at the same time. What that mean is, I went from doing 10 art project, work, being a wife, and student in one day, to spending my entire day sitting with my daughter coloring pictures and keeping her from throwing things at her brother. That may seem like I do nothing all day, but those little thing entitle em to teach my daughter her colors, have the chance to teach her name and her words, teach her to treat her brother lovingly, to give hugs and kisses, to share her crayons, don't draw on the wall, don't draw on the floor and most definatley do not draw on yourself....nor your brother.

Between diaper changes and feeding, I have to wrestle her, because she wants to go comando. And then chase her away because she wants to back to nursing when she sees her brother chowing down. With Theo still little enough to nurse it is easy to keep him in the swing, but guess what he now is learning to sit up, so it more floor time, than swing time now.

My back aches because I sit and lay on the floor more than I stand, my meals consist of what my daughter eats, grant it she's a vegghead, but still would like a eat a meal without little hand eating off my plate.

So yes, I may only be doodling on the floor with my children, but those are my busiest days, but also my most enjoyable!

Until another day

Zaricor Family week, between the chasing a baby and cleaning. :)

SO from Thursday of last week. I had my friends over for the first time to watch Mirror Mirror. Which for those who have not watched it you really need to. Its super cute! We had Papa Johns Pizza, greatly discounted thanks to Daddi! A tasty potato casserole from the lovely friend who came, and I made this.

I know. Makes your mouth water. Oreo crust on the bottom, mint chocolate chip ice cream filling in the middle, then homemade whipped chocolate icing on top. Very tasty!
But before I finished it. It made this mess.....

Um...yeah...Left to go check on Baby Girl because she plunking her toys once again into the toilet, even though I swear I keep that bathroom door closed and the toilet seat shut! So I left my mixer on high speed for a few seconds untended...But we got this lovely ring of chocolate icing splatterd across my kitchen floor, microwave, and ipad! NExt day...
Friday got our tires alined and because I forgot my daughter's shoes I had to keep her in a chair and off the floor. Here she is playing with my ipad so walking doesn't seem so interesting.
Saturday we spent the lovely day with Hubby-Man's Grandparents and Uncle and Aunt. And then SUnday rolled around. Hubby went to work, Baby girl spent the afternoon with my parents being spoiled. And I spent my afternoon feeling like this....
Only with a rounder belly and four other women doing this as well. Prenatal yoga class is actually quite relaxing, but sometimes I feel we get carried away...LOL
Monday I spent making more of these before I went to visit my grandparents.

Baby bow barrettes and also doing half finished painting
And then Tuesday, yesterday, we spent the morning at the doctor looking at this.
Weird angle shot of him or her. Kinda moving around bit by bit. No gender yet, but on 15th we find out! Yippie..hopefully......

So yep. That s been our week so far. Today we plan on making funnel cake!Hopefully that works out less messy than the ice cream cake. :)

Until another day

Baby sock bouquet!

Babies! So cute! And the baby showers! Oh so sweet and exciting. A new mama, basking in pregnancy glow.
But one of the things I find hard about baby showers is getting a gift. Sure, you can run to their registered store and pick out a few items, but then you start to wonder. How many baby blankets does the new mama and baby going to get? And sure you can get a cute outfit but its hard to pick a size. You don't want to get the baby something that he could never wear because he already has a mountain of new born clothes. Nor do you want to get something that mama has to keep and store for 6 months to 2 years before he can wear it. So one of things I like giving is baby sock bouquets! Little baby socks rolled up to look like rose, add some fake leaves and you have it made.
I was a new mama once and going to be again at the end of December. The one thing I never had enough of was baby socks. And when I did, I always lost them. And when you are a new mama nursing a tini newborn, who has the time to wash baby socks? much less find and match them! So I liked to have an endless supply of them. So this baby shower gift is nifty, nice on the wallet, and helps a new mama to have an endless sock supply so she doesn't have to sock hunt! She will find them when she does. (Mine almost always where under my bed or in the fridge...don't ask....hormones!)
This one is done in pink, because I have a friend do in October. Hopefully she doesn't read this blog post. :) The socks are just rolled then ajusted a little, before I take tire rap a few time around the bottom for a stem.

I put mine in a mason jar and stuffed green and white sockes at the bottom. Add fake leaves, then place in a cute baby bag or give as is. You can a bow or other greenery if you desire.
You can even add little recieving blanket around the jar like a pretty wrapped pot. That would be cute. Have fun with it.
Anywhoalls, Until another day

March Update on Life and mother's day list!

So it March! Yippie! Spring it in the air! You can feel it in your toes! The Daffodils are blooming and your hair looks like it had wacked up blow job. *keeps brushing hair*
So a brief update on my life! So far I have signed up to run half a marathon on April 15th. For those who know me, I have never ran a marathon before, much less did running at all. But with God’s grace I can least crawl across the finish line and saw I did 13 miles!! In the end its for a Charity called Run for Her which through the organization called As Our Own.
I’ll post a link bellow and a link if you would like to make donations to sponsor me. I would like to raise 500 dollars for the girl named Ratna in India. Details are the link below.

Another thing, is little baby girls is learning to crawl! Has her first tooth. Top teeth are coming in. My last wisdom tooth is coming in and hurting. Hubby Man is doing good, keeping up with 40 push up a day. And over life is normal!
But also planning a 1st birthday party, themed Lisa Frank style as you can tell from my last post. Hehe, I getting carried away with it, but it should be fun!

Also coming soon is mother’s day! Yippie! I have decided as I was writing this to make a list of ideas, which would be great gifts for those who have no idea how to shop for their mother and where tired of getting ideas from a yahoo article!
First would be my favorite.
A picture charm bracelet. This is sweet and personal. Put a picture of yourself, all your sibs, or grandbabies, whoever. Cute and affordable!
This one I made myself. I making these to put on etsy. But you can buy one in a store, but to make one yourself is relatively easy as well! :) Supplies can be found at Hobby Lobby :)

Another great idea would be these things called diamond candles. This is 25.00 plus shipping so a bit pricer then most things, but still worth it. It soy candle with great scents you can choose from. And the cool part about is at the bottom of the candle is a diamond ring worth from 10-5000 dollars. I just wanted to try it out so I ordered this Chocolate truffle one to try it out. (No I am not being sponsered to advertise this. Too poor and little blog for that. :) There is a below the picture. And I will post a picture of the ring I get whenever I melt my candle. Don't be tempted to dig an damage your candle. For 25 bucks at least enjoy the smell!

Also a great idea, since I am shopping online is this idea called birch box. Again I am not sponsdered for this, but for the make-up guru mom, like mine, this is great. Also easy on the wallet! You pay 10 dollar a month, or just 10 bucks one time to purchase this box, which is delivered to your house with 4-5 high end make-up items you get to try out. And you are not getting this itty-bitty sample. You get a full size or at least enough to try out for a weak. Link is below

Another and always classic gift is flowers. Everyone loves flowers and they are so sweet to receive. I m such a sucker for flowers I got to walmart and purchase those cheap 5 dollar bouquets just for the fun of it. The price is pretty much whatever you can spend. Not to expensive if on a tight budget or you can get really big exotic flower if you have extra to spend.
In the end, just show your apprectian to your mom on her day.
The best kind are though homemade cards, drawing, music, etc given from little kiddos! hehe so cute to see them put their hard and soul into their gifts. Anywhoaalls, I know I skipped over Easter, but I am in denile that Easter is coming up.
Until another page.
